In the Flyers 4-2 win in St. Louis, the effort of the Flyers defensemen was on display last night as many players were putting their bodies on the line in the win. Playing physical, laying out in front of shots, and making smart decisions is just a reflection of their head coach John Tortorella and how hard the team practices.

In the win, the Flyers had 16 blocked shots. With Carter Hart on his game stopping 28 shots in goal, having a strong defense who can also block shots and control the game just takes the pressure off Hart and allows him to settle in even more.
One Flyer who deserves mentioning is defenseman Nick Seeler. Among the 16 blocked shots the Flyers had, Seeler had 8 of them. Diving in front of 90 mph shots and getting right back up is something that his Flyers teammates were inspired by.

"Just the willingness to lay their bodies in-front of 95 MPH shots... Nick Seeler, I've never seen anything like it. He's so dedicated & so committed to winning."

This comes just a day after reports came about of the Flyers making an attempt to resign Seeler. If Seeler continues to make plays like last night and be a leader in the locker room, he will quickly become a fan-favorite in Philly.
