Reporters and personnel were curious about why he chose to join a rebuilding franchise. This is a valid and honest question, as players like Erik Karlsson usually don't want to go into a rebuild. They'd rather win than wait to contend.

During the interview, Giana Han, a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, asked this exact question.
Hathaway responded by saying that he had reached out to multiple players who had played for Tortorella before and was excited about it.

However, one of the Flyers PR staff was caught on a hot mic, saying, "How many times is she going to ask this F***ing question?"
The team has since addressed the situation as they deleted the live feed of what transpired, in order not only to save face but hopefully course correct.
This lack of professionalism and competence is astounding, especially since it interrupted an interview between a player and the media.
