As a testament to the Flyers' season which many had described as painful, one player's career this year was just as equally painful to watch. Not due to the lack of production or interest in playing for the Flyers, it was the fact he could not play due to a major neck injury.

During locker clean-out media day, Cam Atkinson opened up about how tough this season was for him and that he had a burning desire to play hockey but his body wouldn't let him.
Atkinson also opened up about the Flyers' medical staff. Atkinson feels that he has full confidence in the medical staff they have currently and that he had issues earlier this year due to the fact so much of it was something he never experienced.

As the Flyers embark on their rebuilding phase, Cam Atkinson will be vital to the team's offensive threat as he currently has two more years left in his deal which holds a cap hit of $5.875 million per season.
According to cap friendly he has a modified no-trade clause till the end of his contract which means he will submit a 10-team, no-trade list every season if the Flyers feel they want to move on from him.
Time will tell if he will be able to be ready for training camp next season.
