Saturday was an eventful day at the Wells Fargo Center as the Flyers welcomed the Calgary Flames to town for a Saturday afternoon matchup. After being bested by Calgary on New Years Eve, the Flyers got their revenge and snapped their four game losing skid with a 3-2 win.

Not only did the Flyers earn a much needed win, but the organization and its fans also honored their late founder and owner, Ed Snider, on what would have been Snider's 92nd birthday. From the Flyers dawning a patch of Mr. Snider on their jerseys to tribute videos and Snider's daughter participating in the ceremonial puck drop, the Flyers and their fans made sure to honor the man who is responsible for the orange and black.
The Flyers put on a performance that would make Mr. Snider proud any day, and brought the energy that Flyers fans were used to seeing in the first part of the season.

After a scoreless first period, the Flyers were able to respond in the second period after a struggling Morgan Frost earned a much needed goal in the second period on a rebound shot from Sean Walker as the Flyers tied it up 1-1 going into the third period.
The past few games, the third period has been something the Flyers struggled in. Whether it was fatigue or lack of defensive effort, that was not the case this afternoon as the Flyers excelled in the third period scoring two goals.
The first came on the powerplay as Sean Couturier netted one to see the Flyers tie it up again at 2. This goal was much needed for the Flyers and their confidence on the powerplay as they rank last in the NHL on powerplay effeciency.
The second and winning goal came by none other than Travis Konecny as he netted his fifth shorthanded goal of the season as the Flyers continue to excel in the penalty kill, leading the NHL in shorthanded goals.
Konecny's goal made the difference for the Flyers as they held on for a 3-2 win, extracting revenge from New Year's Eve and making their late owner proud.
