After the Philadelphia Flyers finished dead last in the Metropolitan Division, it's clear that the Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher needs to make some changes. Fletcher would do just that hiring the most controversial and vulgar John Tortorella as the Flyers new Head Coach.

Tortorella has a very interesting approach to his style of coaching. He also has quite the reputation of being demanding behind the bench, and not afraid to yell and even curse. Oddly enough, Tortorella has been a successful coach including a Stanley Cup Championship.

Some compare Tortorella to Jekyll and Mr Hyde. It's not always easy to tell which one you're going to get when it comes to him.

A former beloved member of the Philadelphia Flyers Scott Hartnell would give his opinion on the Flyers new Head Coach. Hartnell knows first hand as he played under Tortorella as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"Torts came in and it was like an overhaul. He's a character, he's demanding, mentally he will tear you down into nothing and then he will build everybody back up the same way," said Hartnell.

Hartnell would share one particular negative experience he had with Tortorella, one of the first healthy scratches of his NHL career, and how it actually turned out to be quite the positive for him.
"Next game my number is not on the lineup for practice," said Hartnell. "So I'm the extra forward, feel stupid obviously one of my first times being healthy scratched after 1100 games. So I go and talk to him and we kind of had it out a little bit and he goes 'I appreciate you coming in here and talking to me like a man.'," said Hartnell.

Hartnell admitted that the conversation in that moment got pretty heated with Tortorella as "a couple of f-bombs" were tossed at each other, but Hartnell would admit once he got back in the lineup, he scored 4 goals in 5 games, believing Tortorella coaching philosophy actually helped.
