After what has seemed like a career long stint in the AHL, the former Philadelphia Flyers 2014 third round pick is earning another opporutnity at NHL stardom with this teams latest transaction. On Monday norning, the Vancouver Canucks and GM Patrik Allvin announced that they have recalled defenseman Mark Friedman from Abbotsford to be with the team.

Friedman was a third round pick for the Flyers in 2014, but only ended up playing a total of 11 professional games with the Flyers from 2018-2021, spending most of his time in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
After his stint with the Flyers, Friedman got another opportunity with the Flyers bitter rivals in the Pittsburgh Penguins where he gained more NHL experience, playing 54 total games over three seasons. Although gaining more experience, Friedman still spent most of his time in Scranton with the AHL's Penguins.
However, this season Friedman has produced well in Abbotsford for the Baby Canucks posting four points and a +5 rating in four games, earning him another shot at NHL stardom with the Canucks.
With Vancouver winning, Friedman has a tremendous opportunity to contribute to a team who is set to go on a playoff run in 2024.
