Former Philadelphia Flyers Blessed With a Golden Opportunity After Bad Injury News
Former Flyers goaltender Alex Lyon was recalled by the Florida Panthers today from the AHL Charlotte Checkers.
This will be his first chance with the Panthers this season. Lyon won three of his last four starts with the Checkers and has a 98 and one record with 2.55 GAA and a .909 SV% the Panthers placed Spencer Knight on injury reserve today.
The Panthers have not specified why Knight was placed on injured reserve, but he will remain there until he is cleared to play.
The Panthers have not received the goaltending they were expecting from starter Sergei Bobrovsky who has 9 wins 12 losses and one overtime loss. He carries a 3.26 GAA and a .885 SV%. Perhaps Lyon can provide them with some goaltending they are lacking currently.
Lyon was undrafted and was signed by former general manager Ron Hextall in the 2015-2016 season.
