The Calgary Flames were without a doubt the busiest team this offseason. After being eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers the Flames would lose their two top guys almost unexpectedly.

Johnny Gaudreau would leave the Flames for the Columbus Blue Jackets via free agency then Matthew Tkachuk would request out of Calgary right after.
Tkachuk, along with a fourth round pick would be sent to the Florida Panthers for Jonathan Huberdeau, Mackenzie Weegar, prospect Cole Schwindt, and a first round draft pick.
Hockey fans would and Insiders try to understand why Tkachuk wanted out of Calgary all of a sudden. Many believe that Johnny Hockey's departure was the reason why Tkachuk wanted out of Calgary.
However, one of Tkachuk's former teammates would shed light on why he thinks
According to the comments made by Ruzicka during an interview that was done on the podcast hosted by former NHLers Marian Gaborik and Boris Valabik, the real reason behind Tkachuk's departure would have been related to the captaincy of the Calgary Flames roster.
"I don't know what else played a role there but he really insisted on becoming a captain and I think they couldn't fulfill that request which played a big role in him leaving," said Ruzicka during the interview."

If this was the real reason why Tkachuk left then the Flame then the Flames then he obviously isn't ready to be a NHL captain
