Last Thursday the Philadelphia Flyers announced that forward Noah Cates would be filing for salary arbitration on his new contract, meaning a third party would have to help settle a fair contract between both parties; unless GM Danny Briere and Noah Cates could come to agreement before the hearing.

Noah Cates took the ladder, and agreed to sign a pre-arbitration contract on a two-year deal worth $2.625M.
The 24-year-old still has to cement himself as a top centerman for the Philadelphia Flyers, so taking a bridge-deal certainly makes sense at this time.
Last season was Noah Cates' first full season, playing in all 82 games and getting first-second line minutes every night. Where he posted 38 points (13 goals, 25 assists). He is only 3 games off of 100 in his NHL career, scoring 18 goals over 97 games played, with 47 points (29 assists).
It was important for GM Danny Briere, Noah Cates, and company to come to an agreement before hand, showing a mutual respect for one another. Making it unnecessary for a third party to intervene and possibly cause conflict.
