It was a hell of a year for the New York Rangers. They had a very impressive regular season and after a five year hiatus, the Rangers would return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Rangers eliminated the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes, but fell ultimately in the Eastern Conference Final by the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

However, after a solid run, it has Rangers fans very excited about the team's future. Unfortunately for Rangers fans, we got some bad news as New York Rangers Insider Larry Brooks would reveal that both Andrew Copp and Ryan Strome both intend to test free agency July 13th.

Copp was traded to the Rangers at the Trade Deadline for prospect Morgan Barron and 3 draft picks. Unfortunately, the news gets worse : one of the picks was a condition in the Rangers reached the Eastern Conference Finals, which they did. The pick would be changed from a 2nd round pick to a 1st round pick. Copp signed a 1 year deal through arbitration worth $3.64 million dollar last summer. The 27 year old had 21 goals and 32 assists with a plus 15 rating in 72 games with the Rangers and Jets this season.
