We talked a lot about the Flyers' front office responsibilities in the Ryan Ellis affair. But we also have to consider the other side of the coin.

He hasn't been around the team in a month. He wasn't there for the team's picture day...
Yes, he is injured. But a lot of players were injured in this squad and they did absolutely everything in their power to come back. We can take the examples of Nate Thompson and Kevin Hayes. Despite all the losses, this group is pretty close between each other and there's a belief that when Ellis come back, he is going to have a discussion with his teammates about all the things that happened this season.
"I suspect that Ellis isn't necessarily disliked personally, but after watching someone like Kevin Hayes do everything in his power to return to action despite multiple surgeries and family tragedy, Ellis' absence isn't something that's going to look great by comparison, especially given how the season has gone for the club," said Charlie O'Connor from The Athletic. "This is a group that wants to believe they're "all in it together", and Ellis, well, hasn't been. If and when Ellis returns, I do believe that disconnect will have to be addressed internally," wrote O'Connor.

We will certainly get some answers during the post-mortem after the season, which will end on Friday night.
