James van Riemsdyk, has had an interesting career in the NHL and has adopted the idea that he's now a veteran in this league. Throughout the season, he has played well, suffered a broken finger, and missed several games, and now has returned and rounding back into that form.

As of late, van Riemsdyk has been paired with Morgan frost and Owen Tippett to form an effective scoring line. In the game against the Arizona Coyotes their new line combined for a total of 10 points. It's welcome news for an offense that's been struggling all season due to major injuries.
Words from Coach Tortorella feels that James van Riemsdyk can become a teacher and a mentor for the younger players such as Frost and Tippett.

Torts also has high praise for the left winger from October 26th the night he got injured till December 11th when he returned.
James van Riemsdyk is in his second stint with the Philadelphia Flyers. The 33-year-old left winger coming in at 6 foot three 208 pounds was drafted by the Flyers in 2007 in the first round second pick overall. He also spent six seasons with Toronto Maple Leafs until he made his return in 2018-2019.
He has played 11 games with four goals, and 6 assists for 10 points and is a + 6. It remains to be seen if JVR will remain with the Flyers this season as the trade deadline gets closer and possibly move to a contender for assets down the road. He's in the last year of his deal with a cap hit of $7 million AAV.
