Suppose you are in the Flyers general manager's chair and newly minted President Keith Jones arrives in your office and explains to you that he feels he wants either Travis Konency or Ivan Provorov moved during the rebuilding phase to recoup assets and draft picks to help accelerate this process.

As a subordinate of Jones, you need to help your boss by making this trade and weighing the options. It's a very tall order because it's a hard sell for many Flyers fans as both players have been members of the organization for several years. Both men have their positives and negatives, a decision needs to be made.
If I were in this position, I would have to look at both players to see what kind of return you would get and whether you would want to keep them for the long haul.
In TK, you have a bonafide scoring winger on your top 6 who will provide you with a point per game provided that he has a proper centreman to feed him the puck all night. He has great speed and an accurate shot and he is very elusive when it comes to making plays. As the Flyers have numerous scoring wingers in their minor systems including the Lehigh Valley Phantoms with prospects, Cutter Gauthier, Tyson Forrester and Bobby Brink still need time to develop. Having TK gives the Flyers offence.

As for Provorov, he's qualified as a stud top-two defenseman. If the Flyers would have an improved defensive system, provorov's numbers would rebound quite quickly as he is currently holding a - 20 and minus 17 in the last two seasons. At 6 foot one and 201 pounds, his size and the style he plays help the Flyers stabilize at the back end. Despite his recent political troubles, Provorov is an excellent defenseman.
Both players would be difficult to trade, both have two years remaining in their deals one being $5.5 million and the other being $6.7 million. Both would command a high price and would give the Flyers numerous pieces to help speed up this rebuilding phase. If I had to choose I would trade Ivan Provorov.
As defensemen are a premium in the NHL, and many teams do not have top two and top three defensemen at the rate that Provorov is being paid he would be a valuable asset to acquire talent and assets to help the Flyers move forward. And only being 26 years old he still has many years left to offer a team in terms of reliable play and stabilizing a back end.
Konency are offensive gems that are just hard to find and in this league, you need to have players that can reach that 80-100 point plateau per season he would be one that would qualify. He also has a lot of upsides, and I don't believe the Flyers have seen everything he has to offer since he has played with less-than-ideal centermen. He would certainly be kept by me.
With my take out of the way, we come back to the original question who would you trade first if that decision needed to be made?
