Leon Draisaitl Claims The Flames Targeted Him During The Playoffs

The battle of Alberta has given us numerous memories over the years. No matter where the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames are in the standing you can expect each time they play each other to be a battle.

This included in the playoffs, during the first round Oilers super star Leon Draisaitl would suffer a unfortunate injury vs the Los Angeles kings. Draisaitl suffered a high ankle sprain that hindered him the rest of the way.
Draisaitl knew it was going to be war during the second round vs the Calgary Flames and it was pretty noticeable to everyone watching that Draisaitl's ankle wasn't no where close to being 100%.
However, Draisaitl feels the
Calgary Flames targeted Draisaitl and tried to slow him down. Every chance they had, the Flames made sure to give Draisaitl a whack in the ankle. Draisaitl spoke about this recently on Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman's «32 Thoughts» podcast.

"I was laughing when we played the Flames and some of them started hacking my left ankle and I was like «I don't know what you are doing here»

It seems Draisaitl used that as motivation to eliminate the Flames putting up 17 points in that five game series.
