Matvei Michkov, the 7th overall draft pick, has experienced a sharp reduction in his role with SKA St Petersburg in the KHL.

After featuring prominently on the second and third lines during the pre-season, his ice time has progressively diminished in recent games, to zero.
He's now facing consecutive benchings in the regular season, raising questions about his role as a "limiter" (13th Forward in the KHL) and the potential acceleration of his North American transition.
Michkov's coach admits he is not fit to join the lineup, and will be a 13th (extra) forward until he proves he is.

This isn't Michkov's first benching; he was also a healthy scratch during the August 25 pre-season game. The KHL's reputation for nurturing young talents is now under scrutiny, prompting speculation about Michkov's future direction and whether an early move to North America, possibly with the Flyers, is on the horizon.
These developments prompt inquiries into whether Michkov's limited role could hasten a decision to pursue his hockey career in North America.
