May 16th will be an extremely important date for Chuck Fletcher and the Flyers

This summer will be, once again, extremely long for Flyers fans. The team was eliminated from playoffs contention last week.

This offseason will be crucial for the team. Chuck Fletcher already unveiled his plan moving forward: he wants to make the playoffs next year and his strategy is to make an "aggressive retool" by bringing established players to the team via trade or the free agent market.

It's going to be extremely difficult.

But before, there's the draft. For the moment, the Flyers are the fifth worst team in the league rankings with a 22-36-11 record. They are 6 points ahead of the last placed Arizona Coyotes. Having the best possible odds to draft first is a reach for the club, but it doesn't seem impossible.

They will have one thing to do however: lose. At the time of writing these lines, the Flyers have 8.5% chances to select first in Montreal this summer.

Moreover, the NHL announced earlier today that the Draft Lottery will happen on May 16 at 7PM E.T. You'll understand that is going to be a very important moment for the Flyers. Having the first overall pick could accelerate the process for Chuck Fletcher. Bringing Shane Wright in Philadelphia would be a nice gift for the fans after this terrible year.
