Over this past year, one of the most controversial players on the Flyers roster is beleaguered centerman, Kevin Hayes. He has been a lightning rod of controversy as many fans and pundits have questioned his ability to play the game, especially on the defensive side with the fact he was one of the highest point players on the Flyers roster.

Recently, it's revealed that he's had multiple surgeries on his core muscles, as many fans know suffered a major tragedy in his life with the death of his brother Jimmy Hayes. Considering all that has gone on, I'd say Hayes has done as best he could with all the headwinds he faced.
Flyers reporter Charlie O'Connor explained this and felt this was considered a bounce-back year for Hayes after all that happened.

He also questions fans on why they hate the man so much. For me, hate would be a strong word but the fact that he has a $7.1 million cap hit for another three seasons and his foot speed and defensive game have slowed down and degraded over the past year, I could understand why some fans disliked the player and wanted him traded.
That task isnt easy for general manager Danny Briere as he continues to plan out his rebuilding phase for this team which will begin at the draft which will be held on June 28th and 29th in Nashville.
