But the summer is now in full bloom, endless NHL trade rumours continue to pile up on beleaguered centre Kevin Hayes. Hayes has been under the microscope for most of last season for his lack of foot speed and undisciplined defensive plays that have cost the Flyers goals and games.
It all began when he signed his new contract worth $7.1 million per season many felt not justified for the lack of production he was providing.
Fast forward to today, with the Flyers now in a rebuild mode and preparing to tear down this lineup, it's highly likely that Kevin Hayes will not be on this team next year.
What's working in the Flyers' favour is that the unrestricted free agency at the centre is very thin this year.

There are teams throughout the league including the Bruins, Stars, Hurricanes, Wild, and the Red Wings looking for centerman to bolster their lineup.
Many of these teams are in different states of competing for the playoffs and the cup, however, a player like Hayes could help some of them stabilize their second or third lines. It would be expected for the Flyers to retain some of his salary to make a trade work.
The 31-year-old centerman standing at six foot five 216 pounds, was drafted in the 2010 draft, first round 24th pick overall. During last season, he played 81 games, scored eighteen goals with 36 assists for 54 points and was a minus 22.
