Philadelphia Flyers fans and even the organization had high hopes heading into the 2022-23 season with new additions such as Ryan Ellis, Cam Atkinson, Tony DeAngelo and Nic Deslauriers, Flyers fans had hope that things may change with this group- coached by veteran John Tortorella.

Well, things quickly went south.. do we even need to explain the Ryan Ellis situation? It is quite equivalent to Nolan Patrick, he will likely never step on the ice again after having ''multiple'' never seen before injuries, Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said.
On top of Ellis being out (as expected) forwards Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson have yet to play a single game in a Flyers uniform this season, Wade Allison has been out long term and Travis Konecny, Scott Laughton, James Van Riemsdyk and others have missed periods of time- this Flyers team must be cursed.
This blowout of a season for the Flyers has raised question in many areas, to the point where an NHL reporter by the name of Larry Brooks thinks the Flyers may drop a huge bomb and buyout their top point scorer, Kevin Hayes.

Hayes carries a steep contract with an average of $7.4 million for the next 8 years, until he is nearly 40 years old.. another very questionable contract for the Flyers.
Buying out Kevin Hayes? Is this a joke, why not trade him away? Well no teams will even be looking close to Hayes' $7.4 million dollar contract which only expires when he is nearly 40 years of age, but the Flyers may look close to buying him out, which would result in a lot of cap relief moving forward as shown below:
If the Philadelphia Flyers were to buyout Kevin Hayes this season, they would paying just $1.52 million each year, apposed to $7.4 million, saving a whopping $5.88 million per season. Will Chuck Fletcher act on this, or is it another dud to think about?
The reporter who revealed the news has some history with a now Flyers head coach, take a look below.
