Teams look for power forwards who can play a tough two-way game, forecheck, backcheck, and score.

69th pick Devin Kaplan from Boston University may be able to provide them with that.
«A Swiss Army Knife», sort of like how Flahr described Kaplan. The Bridgewater, New Jersey native looked strong and competitive at Developmental Camp. He stands at 6'3, while weighing 205 pounds. Kaplan is a natural Right-Winger that plays with an edge to his game.

«I think I'm a power forward, who makes space for his teammates, but can also make plays for himself too,» Kaplan said. «I think I can bring a little bit of everything to the table. I wanted to stay on the East Coast. Growing up my brother was a Flyers fan. I was a Rangers fan. We kind of always butted heads. That's over now. I'm all Philly.

As a power forward who plays heavy on the puck and has recently shown confidence, Brent Flahr praised Kaplan's game.

In 40 games, Kaplan scored 10 goals and 23 points, earning a berth in the Frozen Four. It has been an interesting past season for the young forward as he learned how to be a swiss army knife in multiple roles throughout the lineup.
«A power forwardSomebody who establishes themselves on the ice every shift. You know he's out there and he can also compliment other skilled players too. He can play any role, anywhere you want him to and help the team win. I think my passing and my hockey IQ are a little underrated. Also, my transition game I feel like is another thing I do really well.»

Of course, Kaplan needs to continue working on his skating, but he has shown that he is capable of transitioning and distributing the puck. Additionally, he can score in dirty areas and is an excellent penalty killer.
If Kaplan continues developing as a playmaker, he will no doubt be one of the Flyers' most valuable players in the future.
Devin Kaplan said that Joel Farabee helped his game a lot last year at Dev Camp. This year he hasn't run into him, but speaks very highly of him. #Flyers
