The importance of his play is key and for Owen Tippett, he knows how big of a deal it is for him to have a strong year.

Flyers re-signed Tippett to a 2-year deal this past offseason. In spurts down the stretch last season, the former Panther showed his potential with the Flyers. He finished with four goals and three assists over 21 games. He had 53 shots, over two and a half per game, but a 7.5 shooting percentage. Not playing top line minutes and a season where it was clearly over, Tippett made the best of his chances. Some just missing the goal by only a second or two.
Head coach John Tortorella and new assistants Rocky Thompson and Brad Shaw will now get the chance to work with Tippett.
Here is what Tippett had to say at his year-end interview with the media last season.
"Obviously it's a little different coming in, you don't really know what to expect," Tippett said at his end-of-the-season press conference in late April. "You get used to one management staff. When you come in, you just want to make a good impression and get to know everybody. One of the messages was to have a good summer and be ready to go next year."
