News broke today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have decided to make a major change to their management group. Ownership decided to relieve the duties of president of hockey operations Brian Burke, general manager Ron Hextall and assistant general manager Chris Pryor.

Fenway group sports also made a very important statement regarding Sidney Crosby's future with the team. Dave Beeston spoke out and expressed his desire to keep Crosby with Pittsburgh Penguins until his retirement.
The Penguins are in a weird predicament, as their aging core still can compete with the NHL of today, however, they require a new crop of players as they move away from the Sidney Crosby era.

I don't for a second believe that they would trade Sidney Crosby as he's been the ambassador in the beacon for the Penguins throughout his career.

It remains to be seen which direction the Penguins will go now that they've gutted the top half of their management team. Candidate names will begin to circulate the rumour mill almost immediately.
