More often than not Russian-born, and even just European players in general opt to leave North America for higher pay and bigger roles in Euro leagues, like liiga, KHL, and SHL.
Such is the case for German Rubtsov, who signed a one-year deal in the KHL with Spartak Moskva.
The Russia born, Rubtsov was touted to be a big piece for the Flyers top-six of the future, but it never panned out and he was shipped to the Panthers, as part of the Claude Giroux at the 2022 NHL trade deadline.
Rubtsov, 24, suited up for four NHL games with the Flyers, since being drafted by the club with the 22nd overall selection in the 2016 NHL Draft. The winger posted zero's across the boards in terms of his statistics.
He is still quite young, so perhaps an NHL role in the future isn't crazy to consider. What do you, the fans think?
