Since the decision was made to turn the page on the Chuck Fletcher era and begin with Keith Jones and Danny Briere as GMs, many NHL pundits feel the Flyers have a lot of work ahead of them to become a perennial playoff team in the future.

The thought before the summer was that the Flyers would begin a complete teardown of their lineup as they attempted to extract any value from players they could sell.
Briere managed to move two players in question: Ivan Provorov, the beleaguered defenseman who was in constant trade talk for several months, and Kevin Hayes, the center who was quite expensive and had a large salary cap that wasn't warranted due to the production he gave and the defensive deficiencies that came along with his play.
As the Flyers began their training camp on September 21st, Joel Farabee, one of the main Flyers players on offence, weighed in on what he thought the team had done so far in their rebuild and how they will fare when the season ends next year.

"From what I've read on Twitter and stuff like that, everyone's got us dead last; we're finishing bottom five. I don't think we're going to be that bad at all. I think we have a really good young group of forwards. I think you saw that at the end of last year, how some guys took over, Frosty' (Morgan Frost), Tip' (Owen Tippett). I think we're going to be a pretty tough team to beat. I think there's never an easy night in Philly when you're playing us. I think we're going to be a lot better than people expect.»

The Flyers will look very different this year as Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson will begin their seasons after spending last season recovering from surgery. With the addition of Owen Tippett from the Claude Giroux trade two years ago and TK and Farabee, there are reasons to be optimistic for a better outcome this year.
The Flyers will also be leaning on their rookies and prospects who could help make the team this season, including Tyson Foerster, Ronnie Attard, and Bobby Brink. They also acquired Helge Grans in the Provorov deal from Los Angeles. In goal, they have Carter Hart, who has been the backbone of this team for the past several years, with Sam Ersson and Cal Petersen challenging for the backup role.
This should prove to be a very interesting season as the Flyers will continue to evaluate their team and make changes as they see necessary.
