Now the trade deadline has passed, the stories and information begin to leak out from NHL organizations trying to make trades. The Flyers were expected to be a player by the trade deadline as they have numerous contracts and players that they wanted to move out. One name, in particular, was Flyers centerman, Kevin Hayes.
Hayes has certainly had an up-and-down season with the Flyers as he has learned to adapt to head coach John Tortorella's system which is a defence-first style.
Hayes himself has been one of the main point-getters for the Flyers, however, he hasn't had the defensive mindset that Tortorella hoped for. He was benched earlier in the season for not following the coach's orders.

Hayes currently holds a $7.142 million cap hit on his contract with three years remaining after this year. The Blue Jackets were rumoured at the deadline to be interested in Hayes and the possibility of this discussion will continue into the offseason and the summer.
If this trade were to happen the Flyers will have to retain some salary to make it work as most teams are strapped to the cap even after the playoffs are completed.
Hayes has played 62 games and has scored seventeen goals and 32 assists for 49 points, then he has a dismal minus 16 for a plus minus.
