Former NHL "tough guy" Sean Avery recently announced he was coming out of retirement to pursue a career in the ECHL. He lasted less than two days.

Avery, 41, retired from the NHL around 10 years ago and has since been making his presence known by commenting online about NHL news.
On the Blackballed with James Di Fiore podcast, Avery recently said this :
"I've got seven months to be physically ready to walk on to an NHL training campMy timing is coming back and it's getting sharper every single time. I can feel it happening."

Avery was recently signed to a standard ECHL contract by the Orlando Solar Bears, Tampa Bay's ECHL affiliate.
Avery is probably most known for his antics and feud with goalie Martin Brodeur when he took his stick, waved it in front of Brodeur in an attempt to get under the goalkeeper's skin. Avery has also led the NHL twice in penalty minutes and most recently, his comments on the Jake Evans hit last playoffs caused a stir.
Avery has 247 points in 580 NHL games along with 1533 PIM. Let's hope no other ECHL team picks him up as a free agent.
