The Montreal Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes has done a marvelous job since being named the Canadiens new General Manager late last season replacing Marc Bergevin.

Hughes has rolled up his sleeves and got to work on rebuilding the Canadiens organization. Hughes has already made many big trades picking up draft picks and prospects along the way.
Hughes last move was very interesting when he would acquire long time Calgary Flame Sean Monahan and a conditional first round pick from the Calgary Flames basically as a favor. The Flames needed extra cap space to sign unrestricted free agent Nazem Kadri to a 7-yeat $49 million dollar deal.
Monahan has one year leaf on his current contract that pays him $6.5 million dollars the 27 year-old wants to put last-year behind him where Monahan had just 8 goals, and 15 assists in 65 games before suffering a season ending injury.
