The Ottawa Senators keep adding to an amazing offseason by acquiring Minnesota Wild netminder Cam Talbot in exchange for goaltender Filip Gustavsson.
This one-for-one deal comes a day after the Sens shipped Matt Murray and some picks to the Leafs in exchange for future considerations. The trade between the two Ontario clubs saw the Sens clear around $4.6 million in cap flexibility.
Last season, Talbot played 49 games and boasted a 2.76 GAA and .911 SV%. After the trade deadline last season, Talbot and Fleury became one of the best goalie tandems in the NHL. Talbot makes around $3.66 million until 2022-23.
Gustavsson on the other hand, played 18 games and had a 3.55 GAA over that stretch. He was set to be an RFA this coming deadline and will most likely not cost the Wild much to re-sign.
