After Juraj Slafkovsky was taken number 1 by the Montreal Canadiens, his counterpart Shane Wright fell all the way to fourth overall. The Devils passed on Wright for mobile defenceman Simon Nemec and Arizona preferred the dynamic American Logan Cooley.
