Amid the devastating forest fires that have compelled numerous families in Quebec to evacuate their homes, Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup champion Sam Girard has exemplified true compassion and generosity.

Girard, hailing from Roberval, has opened his own residence to provide shelter for fire victims in need. Currently, two families, including one with a 14-month-old baby, are residing in his bedroom, with more expected to arrive soon. As community centers become overwhelmed, individuals like Girard serve as a beacon of hope for families who would otherwise have nowhere else to seek refuge.
His selflessness and willingness to lend a helping hand in this crisis demonstrate the immense impact athletes can have off the ice.
