As the Hlinka Gretzky Cup has ended, it is now time for the World Junior Championship to begin. 8 months after the WJC was supposed to be played, they are finally set to get underway.
USA ready to defend the crown and their first opponent up is Germany. Some important things that were taken from this game and we are going to get into them. Here we go.
Outshoot the opposing team
Getting shots on net is the way you score goals. Yes, I know, rocket science. Team USA certainly did that last night against Germany outshooting them heavily. The Americans outshot Germany 50-11 and easily cruised to a 5-1 victory in their opening game of the tournament. When USA Star Hughes scored, they had already outshot Team Germany 13-0. Impressive.

It's a Game of Offense
A total offensive domination that USA put on Germany. Not only the outshooting and the final score of 5-1. They have speed and they move the puck extremely well. Absolute sheer dominance in the offensive zone. Team USA uses speed to create space and opportunities which also included incredible puck movement that helped defensively. Although, Germany was not a strong opponent, it was evident that the Americans play well as a unit and share the puck efficiently.
An Easy Day at the Office
Never a bad game when your goalie only faces 11 shots on him. Thats exactly what USA goalie Kaidan Mbereko went through as he stopped 10/11 shots faced. Can't say it was an impressive performance but having a great puck moving defense in front and a dominant performance, things will come much easier.
