It was in 2021 that the Philadelphia Flyers traded Claude Giroux, who wanted to chase a Stanley Cup, to Florida with Connor Bunnaman, German Rubtsov and a 5th round pick in exchange for Owen Tippett, a 1st round pick in 2024 and a 3rd round pick in 2023.

In 2022-2023, Tippett scored 27 goals and 49 points, just hitting his stride.
In spite of this, the loss of Giroux at center still stings to this day, as he has proven to be a valuable asset for the Senators.

Averaging 60.6% in face-offs taken, Giroux leads the Senators with 218 this season.
If you want another indicator of how important Claude Giroux is to the Sens, he leads the team this season in faceoffs taken with 218 (which stands to reason as he's top 5 FOW% in the league at 60.6%). The next closest player on the team is Josh Norris with 143.
He is followed by his own teammate Josh Norris, who has taken 143 faceoffs.
Fletcher certainly put the stake in the heart of the franchise when they moved on from him.
you ever just stop and think about how claude giroux should still be a philadelphia flyer but isn't because chuck fletcher and the old heads ruined everything?

yes, every day.
With 96 games played with the Senators and 95 points scored, he has 40 goals and 55 assists, and 253 shots on goal.
Claude Giroux wanted to go to Ottawa so the Sens cleared some cap space AND built up a decent young core.

Johnny Gaudreau wanted to go to Philly so the Flyers overpaid multiple defensemen and backed themselves into a corner they couldn't get out of.

Fire Chuck Fletcher.
He is still elite.
