The Philadelphia Flyers travelled to Colorado to take on the decimated defending Stanley Cup champions. Despite a late push, the Flyers dropped a 3-2 decision in regulation time for their fourth straight loss.
It took the Philadelphia Flyers organization 28 games to recall
Cam York. Despite all of the offensive challenges facing the Flyers, York remained in the AHL for over a quarter of the season.

John Tortorella wanted some moxie in his lineup and the rookie delivered. Similar to the New Jersey Devils
Jack Hughes refusal to give cliche answers in interviews of late, Cam York delivered a similar hot take on his goal.
3. Burned By The Power Play Entry:
Drop the puck to the last man back. The last man back kicks it to the wall on the entry to a player standing still. That player is flat footed and handcuffed by the immediate pressure and the puck is turned over and cleared. It is a common reoccurrence for the Flyers power play entries, except this time it cost them a breakaway and short handed goal against.
(Another typical bounce off the glass that goes against the Flyers.)
The Flyers entering the zone with such predictability and a lack of speed has to be addressed; it is simply to easy to defend. If the give and go on the entry has even the slightest hiccup the play is dead. Only the player carrying the puck through the neutral zone has any speed, the other four players are standing still at the blue line, waiting to enter the zone.
4. The Price Of The Pinch:
The Flyers have been active in keeping plays alive in the offensive zone by activating their D to pinch down on the wall. The potential hazard of having one of your defense caught low in the zone is having a forward play D. On the Avalanche's tying goal,
Morgan Frost got caught playing D on the 3 on 2 rush and a lack of communication with
Rasmus Ristolainen, allowed
Devon Toews to slide behind Frost unchecked for the easy tap in.
The Flyers made a game of it late.
Kevin Hayes and
Travis Konecny executed a quick one timer play up high and James Van Reimsdyk got a touch on the puck before it beat Pavel Francouz with just over 3 1/2 minutes to play.
JVR has 5 points since his return and Hayes and Konecny continue their point per game pace.
The Flyers had considerable pressure in the dying minutes of the game, but couldn't bury a tying goal.
The Flyers will try their luck against the Metro division leading New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
