At this time of year, with the season winding down and less than 20 games to play most teams will try different combinations to see what would work for the playoffs. Teams that will not make the playoffs are starting to gauge their talent and see who will fit next season when the season resumes in October.

Tonight, the Flyers were playing against the Detroit Red Wings and head coach John Tortorella felt that he wanted to try Rasmus Ristolainen on the wing during the power play.
Moving a defenseman to the wing on offence is nothing new in the NHL and sometimes a move like this can pay off. One of the best examples of this is Dustin buff Lynn who played for the Chicago Blackhawks and the new Winnipeg Jets and was interchanged between forward and defence from time to time.
With Risto moving to the wing, it gives Torts a chance to see what he can do offensively And see if he could make a difference. Early on this season, Risto was facing the wrath of his head coach as he felt that Risto's play was not where it should be and benched him periodically.
I feel this experiment will be short-lived and that he will move Risto back to the defence pairings during the power play.
