The situation with Ivan Fedotov has become more complicated over time this year. Fedotov had completed his sentence and was expected to move to North America.

The Philadelphia Flyers planned to toll his contract to extend it into this season, but Fedotov signed a 2-year deal with CSKA Moscow instead.
KHL Vice President Valery Kamensky did not hold back when asked about today's IIHF ruling on Ivan Fedotov.

«The decision is wrong. We must suspend cooperation with the IIHF until we are allowed to participate in international competitions. You need to develop your hockey and negotiate directly with NHL clubs. Both the KHL and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation should have direct contact with the NHL," Kamensky said in a conversation with SportExpress reporter Sofia Gretskaya.

Fedotov's KHL team, CSKA Moskva, announced that they consider the ruling «biased» and they will be challenging the ruling in international instances. The team claims that Fedotov is still at training camp with the KHL team, and they have «no doubts» that Fedotov will take part in the 23-24 season.

Meanwhile, the Flyers signed Alexei Kosolov as a temporary measure while the IIHF sorted out the situation.
The IIHF later ruled against CSKA Moscow for breaching international transfer rules. However, KHL Valery Kamensky was unhappy with the decision and ended the KHL's cooperation with the IIHF, following the NHL ending the KHL-NHL memorandum of understanding years ago.
The IIHF has found that Ivan Fedotov and CSKA Moscow have breached the IIHF International Transfer rules by signing a contract while he still had a valid contract with the #Flyers.

For this, he will now be suspended from any IIHF international action with Russia, and also KHL action, until January 1st, 2024.

This leaves the window for him to play in North America now.

Kamensky is not pleased that the Russian Federation will be excluded from IIHF tournaments and that ties between the KHL and NHL have been severed.
This sounds like a last resort move for Kamensky and there should be more to come out of this story, as it continues to develop.
CSKA has filed an appeal against the IIHF decision on #FueledByPhilly Ivan Fedotov's contract.

IIHF President Luc Tardif said he received the appeal documents from CSKA and Fedotov today.

He had no comment. #KHL
