There was a time when the Metropolitain division was not the strongest. Formerly known, as the Atlantic division in the NHL, the teams that makes up this group have gained some upper ground across the league. Having guys like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Alex Ovechkin, and now- Johnny Gaudreau.

We watched the NY Rangers go all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals this past season. The Blue Jackets brought in the biggest free agent. Seems like all teams are doing their best to win, except one. The Philadelphia Flyers
With some big names in free agency and players to be signed, we witness the Flyers bring in Defenseman Tony DeAngelo from the Hurricanes and a new coach. That was the biggest splash made. While other teams around in bringing in top tier talent, the Flyers continue to sit back and watch their fanbase abandon them, see less and less tickets being purchased, and soon enough, players won't even want to sign in Philadelphia.
Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher mentioned they just didn't have the cap space to acquire a big-name player, essentially saying you didn't want to compete for the next 7 years.
With the Metro just getting better and better, and the Flyers getting worse and worse, I certainly hope the team and fanbase likes high draft picks and no playoffs because that's exactly where they could be headed.
