The Montreal Canadiens got a huge return for a bottom-6 forward

Before Claude Giroux trade to the Florida Panthers was made official, the Avalanche were in the race and according to multiple sources, they were willing to trade away their best prospect in defenseman Justin Barron to put their hands on the former Flyers captain.

Today, it's finally the Montreal Canadiens that acquire Justin Barron and a 2nd round pick in 2024 for forward Artturi Lehkonen.

Barron is an excellent prospect who is almost NHL ready, as he played 43 games in the AHL this season, registering 20 points. The Canadiens got a fantastic return for Lehkonen.
