The Flyers are terminatingLinus Hoberg'scontract, according to Hockeybuzz writer Bill Meltzer of The Flyer Alumni Association. Hoberg, who has frequently been benched by the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, has officially been placed on waivers by the Flyers and no signs are showing he will be claimed.

The 6 foot 176-pound defenceman, who is 24 years old, was selected 139th overall in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Draft. He played five games for the Flyers in the 20212022 season, recording two points and two penalty minutes during his brief NHL career.
With 48 out of 50 contracts now available to the Flyers as a result of his departure, general manager Chuck Fletcher will have some breathing room to either call up a player from the Phantoms or go out and acquire one or two players through trade. With 53 points, the Flyers are currently six points shy of a playoff berth. The possibility of the playoffs will depend on a number of circumstances, but I have a feeling the Flyers will sell before the deadline and start an aggressive retool.
