The development of young prospects has always been a hot topic in Philadelphia. Morgan Frost is a great example of that as all the decisions made regarding him by the team is criticized.
Speaking about young players, Flyers' 2nd round pick in 2021 Samu Tuomaala's development isn't going as planned. According to Alexander Appleyard, he is having a difficult time to adapt to pro level hockey.
Tuomaala is playing for Mikkelin Jukurit in the Liiga. The right winger has only registered 3 points in 19 games this season. His hockey IQ is a real concern.
"I thought he was okay pick where he was... but hockey IQ=real concern. Just behind play all time and even at u-20 is a "complimentary" guy...," said Appleyard on Twitter.
He is only 19 years old, so he'll have a lot of time to develop but it's not looking good for the moment.
