Yesterday, Ben Chiarot missed a part of the game between the Canadiens and the Blue Jackets because of an injury.

However, he finished the game, so it was no big deal for the Canadiens.
How does this influence the Flyers ?
Well, the Canadiens and the Flyers are a bit in the same spot. Even if Philadelphia is not as bad as Montreal, the two teams will look to trade a lot of their players to acquire draft picks and/or prospects at the trade deadline. They are not going to make the playoffs.

So, let's return to the Ben Chiarot case. Imagine if the defensemen suffered a serious injury ? He is one of the most wanted player in view of the deadline and an injury could've scrapped the Canadiens plans until March 21st.
Elliotte Friedman, on Hockey Night in Canada, said that this event could really influence when the first big trade will occur.
"There was something that happened in that game that made me wonder if we're going to see some traction pick up. Ben Chiarot temporarily left the game, he did come back. Any time you have a player with as much interest as he has, you always worry about something like this. And I think we're all curious to see, does this mean the action is going to pick up on Chiarot. Among the interested teams, St. Louis, Carolina, Rangers, Florida, Los Angeles and Calgary, both of whom might have interest in Tyler Toffoli. So we'll see where this goes, but I think you're going to see a few more calls made on an already popular player," said Friedman.
As you know, Claude Giroux is going to be a really popular player for contenders (he has been linked a lot to the Avalanche), and an eventual injury could lead both sides to make a move as fast as possible. The Flyers have recently heavily scouted the Avalanche. So, as we say, there's no smoke without fire.
Look out for this. Giroux could be traded (well) before the deadline.
