This was almost a Philadelphia Flyers jersey in the 90s
The NHL had a pretty wild time in the 1990s, and it wasn't just because teams didn't always have 4 lines on the ice. During this period, some interesting designs emerged, such as the infamous "Burger King" design for the Los Angeles Kings, which ultimately failed, and the Philadelphia Flyers' potential design flop.
Like the St. Louis Blues, LA Kings, and New York Islanders, the Flyers also had their jersey fouls. However, the difference was that they never actually used it on the ice.

The non-traditional design was an attempt to break away from the typical fonts and logos associated with the NHL. It was created by the Ken Loh and the Mednick Group, who were experimenting with gradients that other teams in the league would later adopt.
Unfortunately, the Mednick Group was not included in further discussions about the jersey after submitting their designs and fonts. Despite its unattractive appearance, the Mednick Group went on to create another infamous jersey foul, the Pooh Bear jersey for the Boston Bruins.
It's fascinating to see where the ideas for these jerseys came from, and their origins are intriguing. Someone, somewhere wanted to break free from convention, but not all experiments are successful.
