When former general manager Chuck Fletcher hired John Tortorella as the new head coach many in Flyers nation and pundits in the NHL were curious to see how he would handle this market.
His fire brand style on the bench and towards the media certainly raised many eyebrows on how this would play out. Now being in his second year of his contract and working for a new general manager in Danny Briere it's clear that he has won over his new boss.
Torts has a unique style of teaching that has the Flyers buying into his defence first system. As the team continues to improve and more depth is added to the roster it's clear that his job will get easier.

With the Flyers stating there in a full rebuild though many people feel it might be more of a retool since the team has been playing so well this year, Torts has taken this team to a new level and is now nipping at the heels of the New York Rangers for first place in the Metro Division.
As the Flyers approach the trade deadline, there are big question marks surrounding the team on what direction they will go since the team has played so well. Many feel they will sell off some of their talent so they can recoup draft picks and prospects much like a normal rebuild would do. Others feel that he could either stand pat an attempt to re sign his players or buy to try to make a run.
One thing is for certain, Flyers management is all in with Torts and he is repaying that with wins.
