The Philadelphia Flyers were rumoured to be moving defensemen Tony DeAngelo back to Carolina but the deal was blocked by the NHL. Apparently the league suspected that the Flyers and Hurricanes may be circumventing the salary cap, TSN Insider Pierre LeBrun reported that, «there's language in the CBA about a player returning within 12 months, especially on a retained salary.»
The Flyers and Hurricanes tried to find a way around this by stating that the contract wasn't signed with Carolina and former Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher was the one who traded for and signed DeAngelo. Yet the league still declined it and are telling both teams to either wait till after July 7 (which would be a full year since the trade) or forget the deal all together.
It looks like the teams are taking the first option and wait until July 7th roles around. Which is good for the Philadelphia Flyers as they can unload Tony DeAngelo, sending him back to the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes General Manager Don Waddell confirmed on Saturday that the Tony DeAngelo deal will remain in place with the Flyers. Meaning it will be completed following the 7th and will most likely be finalized morning of the 8th.

The Flyers acquired DeAngelo's restricted free agent rights, from the Hurricanes on July 7, 2022, for three draft picks. Former Philadelphia general manager Chuck Fletcher signed him to a two-year, $10 million contract. Which the now current Flyers GM Danny Briere is trying to get out of.
It sounds like it will only be a couple more days until Tony DeAngelo is officially off the Flyers roster.
