It's a simple fact that an NHL organization cannot keep everyone forever. Whether it's players, scouts or management teams are always looking for quality candidates who would replace others and make the organization stronger.
Shaw, has a strong history with hockey as he was a player drafted by the 1982 Detroit Red Wings in which his career spanned from 1984 though 1999. After he retired, he worked with numerous organisations including the New York Islanders, St Louis Blues the Vancouver Canucks and the Flyers.
Given the trend of NHL coaches becoming younger and organizations hiring assistants, it's highly likely this man will become a head coach in the very near future. It's also a good sign that the organization he's coming from is producing good people which means a strong program.
