The story that is coming out of Philadelphia continues to deepen and get weirder by the day. During a Town Hall season ticket holder meeting, the beleaguered President and General manager Chuck Fletcher sat down and explained to the crowd their tactics to manage this year's NHL trade deadline day.

The conversation produced a few eye rolls and facepalms from the crowd as Fletcher explained that his analytics team man himself developed an app that would determine whether a trade proposal was fair or not fair.
Let me be clear, the general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers admitted to season ticket holders they used an app to help determine whether a trade is fair or not fair. If they felt this was needed they might as well have turned on their Xbox X or PlayStation 5 and used the NHL 23 trade simulator.

To be fair, there's no harm in trying different things to see what it would produce. Since this is a relatively new department for the Flyers as they only began last summer I'm sure eager technicians and other hockey people are wanting to try these things to see if it would help them.
However, this is not what Flyers fans want to hear. The Flyers organization has been a storied organization since 1967 and holds a very strong tradition.
If this is what the current management is doing to get this team and organization out of the mess they're in it certainly means they should be ousted from their jobs and bring in a more competent management team.
This is not the Moneyball of hockey.
