Many excuses have been given for this horrid season but none more so than injuries. With Sean Couturier, Nate Thompson, Kevin Hayes and especially Ryan Ellis missing significant time, we've heard management and players all point fingers at the IR list instead of taking responsibility.

One of the biggest upsets this season is veteran defenseman Ryan Ellis, whom Chuck Fletcher traded for last summer. Although Nolan Patrick and Philippe Myers are going nowhere fast, at the moment, Ellis isn't even moving.
When asked about this at his end of season press conference, Fletcher admitted to us al; that he himself has no idea on the future of the Hamilton native.

Ellis, 31, only played 4 games this season but has 1 goal and 5 assists. The quality and skill is clearly there but if you cannot show up for work, what good does it actually do.
Fletcher says in 6 weeks time, the team and medical staff will know more about his injury. That's quite a while.
"We'll see how things progress over next 4-8 weeks, by end of June and early July. We'll know more by that point. He (and their medical staff) are optimistic."
Let's hope he can take this long summer and recover. After all, the best ability is availability.
