Why has Kyle Dubas not signed this 40 goal scorer?
In terms of off-season moves, the Pittsburgh Penguins' off-season has been relatively uneventful, as they have mostly added depth pieces and an AHL player to their roster.
It is time to sign one of their best players, and the team's 40-goal scorer Jake Guentzel still does not have a contract.
The Athletic's Josh Yohe reports that there haven't been any discussions between Kyle Dubas and the forward about an extension.
It should be noted that Dubas has signed 15 players in the interim, but one shouldn't discount him, as he has a good relationship with Guentzel's agent Ben Hankinson.

There is a question as to when the contract talks will happen, rather than if they will happen because it could be as soon as the signing of Guentzel occurs in the next few months.
As reported by The Athletic, the former 40-goal scorer should get a nice $9M AAV+ upon signing his next contract since none of the core three want Guentzel to leave the club in the near future.
