Despite the Flyers dropping four of their last five games including the last two, the team may have found an unexpected bright spot and offensive weapon during this road trip in 23-year-old defenseman Egor Zamula.
After scoring just one goal in the first 35 games of the season which came on Oct. 17 against Vancouver, Zamula has been on an offensive tear these past five games and has been a much needed strength offensively from the blue line.
In the past four games, Zamula has recorded four points, scoring two goals and two assists. Zamula may not get shot opportunities very often from the blue line, but he sure does make them count. Zamula is consistent on the ice playing about 16 minutes of ice time per game. If he keeps producing, coach Tortorella might even want to think about increasing his ice time if it gives the Flyers an offensive boost.
