Zdeno Chara decided to join the New York Islanders in hopes of the final push for a Stanley Cup. That dream has come to an end and Chara has decided to retire. The Islanders did not make the playoffs last season which would mean that this is Chara's first time since 2016 to not be playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Chara has been contemplating hanging up the skates but according to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, Chara has officially played his final game.
If Chara makes the announcement of an official retirement, he will go down as one of the best defensive players of all time. Known for his size and one of the hardest slapshot, it's a clear yes that he will be in the Hockey Hall of Fame on day.
Chara played 1680 games scoring 680 career points and has a Stanley Cup to his resume.
