"When the Philadelphia Flyers returned to the practice ice on Monday they did not have either one of the goaltenders. Michal Neuvirth was out with an illness and Brian Elliott was still nursing a lower-body injury.
Neuvirth was back on the ice today, but Elliott has been officially placed on injured reserve. Since the date is retroactive to his last game he can come off at any time. The Flyers recalled Alex Lyon from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League to take Elliott's place on the roster. Neuvirth will start at the Washington Capitals tomorrow night.
Before the Flyers took to the rink today, goaltender Anthony Stolarz skated on his own as he is recovering from knee surgery. However, general manager Ron Hextall reaffirmed that the young net minder is not close to returning to game action.
Positive sign: Anthony Stolarz out on the ice before #Flyers practice today. Ron Hextall said yesterday he still isn't close to coming back though and is "more than weeks" away. pic.twitter.com/UpASg33ZxY
